R.I.P. Mr. Miyagi!
So I got to experience my first Black Friday today. Even when I worked at Wal-Mart, somehow I managed to escape the craziness of the major shopping day after Thanksgiving.
I left work about 11:15 and headed home to gather some much needed supplies. I grabbed a hat, some gloves, and even a second jacket. I dropped my brother off at a friend’s and headed out to pick up . We headed out to Best Buy to partake in their awesome sales. Amazingly, there were people camped out there since around 7:30 PM, and we got there at midnight… for a store that would open at 5AM!
So after 4 hours in the freezing cold, we finally got in. Dave got shafted and despite our attempt to line up 4 hours before opening, they ran out of Laptop Computers by the time they got to us in line. I was more fortunate. I managed to get everything I needed, and then some.
I got a 512 MB CompactFlash card for my camera, two 1 GB thumb drives, a keyboard and a 24′ Television for my new home.
So just about everybody at work plays World of Warcraft, and they’ve been trying to get me in the game along with them. I would have several months ago, but Blizzard has this crazy notion that you should first pay $60 for the software to be able to create an account, and then they want another $15/month to play… $75 to TRY a game for one month is absolutely ridiculous so I told them if they can find me a Virgin key (game code to create a character that can be used only once), I would try the game.
Today, one of my coworkers brought me an ad from a magazine with the WoW software and a key good to create an account. It even came with a 14 day free trial so I can get bored of it with in 2 weeks and cancel. hehe…
About 1:30 I started to set up the account. It’s now 2:54 AM and the damn thing is STILL installing updates… I had version 1.7.0…. It downloaded 1.8.0 which took about 30 minutes.. Then I logged in and it downloaded 1.8.1…. Then I logged in and then it downloaded 1.8.3 which has taken about 30 minutes so far..
ALL I WANT TO DO IS PLAY THE DAMN GAME!!!!!
I guess I’ll have to try it another night. I’m getting tired just waiting for this thing to finish. I’m gonna create my new character (hopefully) then go to sleep!
With my busy schedule, I’ve been sending mom out to check out co-ops for me. She found a place in an area that I had stated would be convenient to work, my friends, etc… so this morning I went to check it out and it’s perfect. so we made an offer this morning which was accepted! Papers were sent over to my attourney and hopefully, in 6 weeks, I’ll be moving in to my new place in North Babylon.
It’s a cute 1 bedroom co-op… It’s got a decent sized Living room and bedroom. A good sized kitchen even and a small alcove where I can set up my computer desk/workshop or a bar, or arcade games, or whatever I want 🙂 Even has a small hallway area that I could put my current bar in.
FINALLY!!!
After 3 days of hard work, the Cable Modem costume is complete. I wish I could say it went smooth, but if it did, this post would be timestamped about 2 hours earlier 🙂
After finishing assembling the back panel, I cut out the lights, only to realize that I cut em out with the damn thing upside down. I ran outside with an extra foam-board and sprayed it, praying it would be dry early enough for me to attach and cut it out. I then cut the bottom out (as a head-hole isn’t big enough for my feet!). The sucky part is the top is not as secured as the original top was. No wood supports or caulk this time.
Anyways, it came out great.
Note that I have attached the back panel to the costume and re-sprayed the parts that look faded.
