I think it looks great… Who wants to break it in with me? 🙂

Friday! I’m in love
Sorry to mislead you with the title, but i needed a song with Friday in the title because i’m in a good mood. I feel like singing. Don’t worry, I’ll spare you! Got up early and headed down to Town Hall. I picked up the paperwork to apply for the Star program. I had all the paperwork, I just had to go home to my parents to pick it up.
I swapped cars with dad and brought my night tables with me to my place… I brought clothes to paint in, but somehow, I managed to lose them. I don’t know how. I had them in the car. I carried em in with the pillows. When I got here, they were gone. Nowhere to be found. I don’t have that big of a place, so I really don’t understand how I could lose something in it. Especially now while there’s minimal furniture or places for things to go. There must be a vortex in my place to the land of the missing socks (among other stuff!)
So I headed back to my parents house, picked up what I needed and turned it all in to Town Hall.. Good news, I just saved money on my monthly bills.
I headed back home, and got some more painting done. I really need to do the moldings in the place, I keep putting it off for some reason.. I still havent picked up the paint I need for my hallway either. I’m going shopping with mom tomorrow, so perhaps I’ll pick up the paints I need, as well as other trinkets and do-dads I need in the place 🙂 My wallet is full of gift cards for just about any store I could possibly need to pick stuff up in.
Another step towards moving in!
I had an early start today. I had to be at the Radio Station at 9:30 for an event, but once I got home, I finally started my painting project! I started spackeling and painted the closets, then Dave came over and we finished the main part of the bedroom (Painted all the walls, and the closet doors… All thats left is the moldings…Well, and the back of the room door. So, I forgot one small detail. Easy enough and I have plenty of paint left over. The room looks just like the picture I posted. I’ll take some pictures once I clean the room and start to set it up.
The next big project is the kitchen. It’s going to be a challenge because I want to color-wash a portion of the walls and I’ve never done anything like that before. If anybody has any tips, I’m all ears 🙂
I also finished assembling my entertainment center.. I decided to leave off the doors on the end.. Not because I’m lazy, but because it looks better without them. Again, I’ll take pictures eventually.
Snow Memories from the 150
This snow storm brings back memories of when I worked for United Artists. We had a movie theater in Syosset with a huge 150 foot screen (Hence our name, the Syosset 150). It was located right alongside the entrance ramp from route 135 onto Jericho Turnpike. Myself and another coworker were sent outside to change the marquee as we were getting a new movie. After finishing the marquee, Tony and myself proceeded to build 2 snowmen.. Hmmm I should say a snow man and a snow woman. Both anatomically correct. Both right alongside the road.
This memory brings back another memory. Same day, only an hour later, I realized my beeper was missing. Yes, I had a beeper, didn’t we all though? After plowing the parking lots there were mounds of snow at least 10 feet high. So I walked out to the marquee and proceeded to level the snow. By the time I was done, I had leveled about 5 feet of snow across a 50 foot area. Still no sign of the beeper. Disappointed and upset, I headed back to work, only to find my beeper later in the backseat of my car. It had hooked the seat belt which pulled it off my belt.
One more fond memory, probably around the same time… Since there were always huge mounds of snow after plowing the theater parking lot, I brought in a sled. It was one of those long plastic sleds, orange in color. To my disappointment, while a 10 foot pile of snow looks inviting, there’s not much time to pick up speed while sledding down it. One nice feature of our theater was that it had a balcony. There was a whole second floor of seating, and how did you get up there? You guessed it. a nice loooong staircase… Though I probably didn’t realize it at the time, There’s really nothing funnier than the look on the bosses face when he walks out of the office and sees someone shooting down the staircase on an orange sled! Needless to say (but I’ll say it anyway), he was absolutely pissed!
701
Guess how much painting I got done… None, but it was still a successfull weekend.
Running out of the house Friday morning, I forgot the drop-cloths, so I decided I’d just pull the picture hooks from the walls and spackle. Oops. Left that at home too. lol
The bed came around 10 AM so I headed back home and picked up all the stuff I forgot. I met up with my friend Jenn and we went out to lunch. We got back and I waited for the cable guy. I pulled some of the hooks, but realized I had no tools on me, so some are still there, even now. I spackled/sanded what I could and headed back home for dinner.
Today I spent the day with mom and we picked up some much-needed stuff. Garbage pail for the kitchem, shower curtain (I want doors eventually), Paper-towel holders, etc.. But we lucked out big at Odd Lots… They had a nice hardwood table sans chairs for $100 and it’s the perfect size for the kitchen. Plus, they had 2 lamps there for $20 each.
We headed to Wal-Mart and got the rest of the stuff I needed. Now all I need is 2 night-tables for beside my bead and a computer desk. Well, and a Bar… I actually saw one of the less expensive ones at Big Lots and it looks good. The one they had was missing peices, but I can get it online for under $400.
I also got an awesome 1-cup coffee maker. Click Here to see it.. It fills with about 5 cups of water, and you just put the “K-cup” in the top (pick from tons of flavored coffees, teas, etc.) and press the brew button. It’s the coolest!
Eventually, I’ll actually begin painting 🙂 It’s nice not to be in a rush though!
