Interesting situation at Radio Shack just now.
I called to see if they had the Sanyo 5300 cellphone in stock. I specifically asked if it was a new phone. I was assured that it was, so I headed over there to get it.
The phone was missing most of the packaging and had fingerprints on the screen.
They offered me a lame 10% off after admitting that it was a demonstration model. I said no, and they offered to get a new phone.
I accepted the offer and showed up later to check the “new” phone. The serial # on the box was different, the packaging seemed to all be there, but the bag the phone’s body came in had a hole indicating that the phone had been removed. When i commented they said that it was opened to check the phone, but for all I Know, this could have been the phone they tried to give me prior.
So, I walked out without a phone. Is it really worth losing a $300 sale to lie to your customers?
While making arrangements to p/u the “new” phone, they asked me to pay in advance. Thank god I said no.
