I had plans for a whole bunch of people to join me for the MP3 Experiment today, but most people couldn’t make it due to previous engagements. The one person who was actually going to go with me had an emergency and couldn’t make it last minute. Instead of throwing away the whole day, I decided to trek into the city on my own.
I stared at Fantasma Toys, a Magic Shop near Madison Square Garden where I bought tickets to check out Darwin Ortiz, a card-shark/card magician who will be giving a lecture to other magicians and students of card-handling. It should be interesting. I’m looking foward to it.
I got to the MP3 Experiment about a half hour early. I had a blast there (read my previous post) then headed out to my next venue, a comedy and magic show in SoHo.
I took the subway, and found that the line I was on would not stop at the closest stop by the show. I got off at the last stop before flying past my destination, and realized I had come up on West 4th street, not too far from Mamoun’s, a small Falafel place I was introduced to a while back. I grabbed a Lamb Shwarma and a coke and headed for the SoHo Playhouse to watch Simon Lovell.
Simon Lovell is a magician/con man who specializes in card manipulations and magic in a small stage show called “Strange and Unusual Hobbies“. The show was great, with Simon Lovell showing off some of his gambling/card shark secrets and showing a bit of magic as well. I even got to participate in a few tricks. It was a lot of fun, and an entertaining.
I’m glad that I went into the city alone, even though I had to fend for myself, I got a lot done, probably more than if I had been there with other people. It was a blast!!!
