This weekend was a blast… Despite work scheduling me at the last minute, I managed to trek out to New York City to hang with Sarah, Sarah and Ben. After meeting up with the Sarahs and hitting Chez McDonalds for a less than gourmet dinner, we headed to a small hole-in-the-wall cheap (did I mention CHEAP) bar called Blue & Gold (on East 7th St). Mixed Drinks were $3 each! We spent the night playing a few drinking games, including 2 rounds of Circle of Death… I don’t think I’ve played any drinking games in about 6 years so this was a great escape from my everyday. I got pretty messed up as well… I think we all had fun, though some events occurred which I hope won’t have any lasting effects.
To make a fun night even more interesting (because my life always has some interesting or amusing twists in it), while rushing through the subway systems, I swiped my Metrocard which had only 1 more trip on it through the off-centered turnstyle, stepped in, and moved foward until it just stopped! It turned enough for someone who squeezed into the chamber to go through, but the chamber that was most facing the enterance was actually the NEXT chamber (if that makes any sense at all)….
So to get through to where Ben and one of the Sarahs were, I squeezed into the turnstyle with the other Sarah and made my way in.
All was good until 2 med weilding badges around their necks approached us and asked us what happened. I explained why I entered the turnstyle with my friend, and presented the metrocard on which I paid my passage, but was denied. They took the cards from us and asked us to follow them to the ticket booth to verify our story. (If they were watching that closely, they should have seen me walk into the bars of the other turnstyle after swiping my card)
They let us go, making it a point to inform me that what I did was illegal and they could have issued a summons to me for it. But why should they? I paid my fare. Anyways, they let us all go and we headed home, all going our seperate ways…
It was a blast!
I didn’t even see you posted about that night! It was fun, and you know how glad I am that you came to hang out. 🙂 Thank GOD we didn’t get tickets from that cops! And you’re right – if they were watching us that closely, they should’ve seen you swiped your card. Oh well. It was a very fun night (admist some unnecessary drama) and I hope to go back into the city with you sometime soon! Take care, hun! <3
