You could create an entire website dedicated to the stupidity of the Dell support staff…
I called up to get replacement rubber feet for my Laptop. The parts probably cost DELL a total of $.03 for a full set of 5. The tech asked, how many fell off my machine. I say 4. He asks which ones (why? They’re all the same) and I tell him, but ask if he can send me a full set of 5 so I have an extra. He says, No, he can only send me the ones that are missing.
Trying not to laugh hysterically, I inform him that all 5 fell off, but I found one and stuck it on myself. It may fall off again. He they acknowledges me by offering to send all 5.
What the fuck is that?
I have Complete Care on this Laptop. If I call and say the monitor is split into 47 pieces they will send me another. If I say a car ran over the laptop, they will send me another. If I say I was bored and tossed the laptop off of the observation deck of the Empire State Building, they will ask if anyone got hurt, and then SEND ME ANOTHER LAPTOP.
BUT…. If I ask for 5 rubber feet. The little stickers that go on the bottom of the laptop and prevent it from sliding around (and provide support for the system) they can’t send them…UNLESS THEY’VE ALREADY FALLEN OUT!
When my motherboard goes… because the system was improperly supported and it caused the board to flex, they’ll happily send me a new motherboard…. GOOD! Let that happen. The company could save thousands of dollars, by simply sednding 5 extra rubber feet. But noooooooooo.
I may call Dell once a week, and get as many rubber feet as I can, and I will freely distribute them to anybody who needs them for only the cost of the shipping! If you live near me, I’ll deliver them free of charge.
I just want them because they are so hard to get. I don’t even have a DELL laptop!
Let’s start a revolution!
That’s terrible. I say everyone call Dell and ask for the rubber feet…rofl.

All 4 rubber feet on my powerbook are secure. Just wondering how old your laptop is too. After my white spots issue, amongst other things I decided to get AppleCare (+2 years to the original 1 year limited warranty), just in case. The price of one repair by an official source can easily exceed the cost of the warranty ($249 or so)
I’ve been lucky enough to not have to call dell for any kind of repair work related to our dimension 4500. ::knocks on wood::
The computer is less than a year old. The feet fall off because I use a Kensington saddlebad and the laptop slides into a body-glove style sheath in the bag. The rbber feet are not rounded so they easily pop off. (I got the case from Dell too)
Dell support is horrible because you are talking to some little fucker in India who speaks horrible english, gets paid a tiny salary and loves it, and will take ten tries to get your question right.
Fuck Dell. Fuck outsourcing. Fuck India and fuck their broken-ass english.
